Forest Farm Peace Garden, Hazelbrouck Gardens, Hainault, hosted an “Abundance Day” to celebrate the bounty of summer harvest.

The event, held on Sunday, featured demonstrations of foraging and fermented food making, a Love Food, Hate Waste workshop on cooking up pickled apples and apple sauce and live music courtesy of Redbridge Music Lounge’s performers.

Youngsters also enjoyed messy play, creating “veggie creatures” and face painting.

Anna Konarska, the attraction’s project co-ordinator, said: “We had a fantastic day in the garden, celebrating the abundance of the harvest.

“Thanks to our volunteers and workshop facilitators, the visitors could take part in exciting workshops.

“Our freshly-cooked soup and cob oven-baked rotis proved to be very popular and our organic honey and herbs flew off the stalls.

“The weather was gorgeous and the atmosphere was uplifted by the Redbridge Music Lounge performing in the background.

“A truly enjoyable day!”

The free event, which ran from midday to 5pm, also featured a “swapping stall”, led by Redbridge Council’s recycling team, and fresh tea, made from herbs gathered by volunteers in the garden.
