Archant

Dancers and singers filled the streets yesterday for the first Ilford Christmas Festival.

The High Road was lined with stalls and performers for the inaugural event, which ran from noon to 6pm.

Activities included face-painting and Bollywood dancing.

Organiser Wilson Chowdhry said churches from the area had come together to organise the event, including the Gateway Church in Gants Hill, the Ilford Tamil Church and the Kingdom Ministries.

He said the first half of the day was secular, following by carol singing and worship services.
