An NHS trust is hosting a number of events this month to help encourage smokers to kick the habit once and for all.

The North East London NHS Foundation Trust (Nelft) is offering free advice from their Stop Smoking Service at a number of events next week as part of the national “Stoptober” campaign.

Staff will also be offering free Stoptober packs, CO readings and lung age tests at the events, to show people the impact smoking has on their bodies.

On Monday trust staff will be at Redbridge College, in Barley Lane, Chadwell Heath, from 12-2pm. They will be at Fulwell Cross Leisure Centre in High Street, Barkingside, on Wednesday at the same time.

To round off the week on Friday, their team will be at Redbridge Central Library - again from 12-2pm.

A nelft spokesman said: “Taking part in Stoptober or even giving yourself a target date to quit is a great way to have a goal and will help you stop smoking for good. It will be tough, but there is a lot of support locally to help you along the way, and you will see your quality of life improve.”

If you miss the events, you can call the Nelft Stop Smoking Service on 0800 032 0102 for information about the stop smoking support available. You can also call the local free quitline on 0800 032 0102.
