Forty cars stopped during Redbridge police number plates operation

Forty cars were stopped during a Redbridge police operation which involved the use of number plate readers.

On February 26 and 27, officers used automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) equipment in Chadwell Heath.

Eight vehicles were searched and two prominent burglars were among the people stopped.

One person was also arrested for driving while disqualified and a couple of vehicles were found to have no insurance.

In addition, one person was given a penalty for using their mobile phone and another for not wearing a seatbelt.
