The Federation of Redbridge Muslim Organisations (FORMO) conducted the operation on Sunday, giving food primarily to three shelters: The Salvation Army, in Clements Road, Ilford, The Welcome Centre, in High Road, Ilford and the Redbridge Foodbank, in Granville Road, Ilford.

FORMO is an affiliate Muslim body representing mosques, Islamic centres, schools and community organisations across Redbridge.

Clothes and toiletries were also donated at seven depots across Redbridge.

FORMO’s chairman, Farouk Ismail, said: “The response to the campaign has once again helped increase the awareness of the issue of homelessness and also reinforced our firm commitment.”

Mr Ismail added FORMO hopes to provide this support to those without homes each year. The campaign has been running since 2012.

He called for people to lobby Redbridge councillors and MPs to “address the issue of homelessness.”
