A former Redbridge school teacher who was suspended from his job when it was revealed he was a stripper and porn actor has entered the Big Brother house.
Benedict Garrett, 32, started his career at Beal High School in Woodford Bridge Road in January 2008, where he was head of the personal, social and health education department.
He was suspended when teachers became aware that students had watched him online appearing in a trailer for an adult film in June 2010, under his alias Johnny Anglais.
Benedict, who lives with his 18-year-old foster son, appeared on Channel 5’s Big Brother launch programme last night as one of 16 contestants to go into the house.
Before going into the house he said: “I think sometimes I get accused of being condescending to some people, patronising. That might come from the fact I used to be a teacher.
“I have quite strong opinions and I think people sometimes find that quite difficult to deal with.”
Benedict won the right to continue teaching at a hearing in September but was handed a reprimand by the General Teaching Council after being found guilty of unacceptable professional misconduct.
