Leyton Orient have completed the signing of former Millwall defender Shane Lowry on a two-year deal.

Lowry was released by the Lions in the summer following a two-and-a-half year stay at the New Den after making his loan move from Premier League side Aston Villa permanent.

The 25-year-old plays primarily at left back, but can also fill in at centre back and he becomes Russell Slade’s fourth new signing of the summer behind goalkeepers Adam Legzdins and Gary Woods, and midfielder Bradley Pritchard.

And after watching on as the O’s suffered play-off final heartbreak last season, the Australian-born defender feels they can go one better this term.

“I’m really excited to be here,” Lawry told the Leyton Orient club website. “There’s a buzz about the place. You can tell straightaway that everyone here is really ambitious and I want to be a part of it and help the Club push to go up this year.
