Firefighters tackle sports ground fire in Fairlop

Firefighters spent more than three hours battling a large fire at a sports ground in Fairlop yesterday evening.

A London Fire Brigade spokesman confirmed four fire engines and 21 firefighters were called to a fire at a sports ground in Forest Road at 4.31pm.

An agricultural shed was destroyed by the fire, which was under control by 7.47pm.

Fire crews from Hainault, Ilford and Woodford fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
