Firefighters tackled a blaze at a popular restaurant along Cranbrook Road this afternoon.

Four fire engines attended the fire, which broke out in the kitchen and in the extraction system, at Shinwari in Cranbrook Road, Ilford at 4.21pm this afternoon.

The extraction system was badly damaged by the blaze, a London Fire Brigade spokeswoman said.

The crews from Ilford and Woodford fire stations had the fire under control at 4.48pm.

The spokeswoman added: “The cause of the fire in under investigation.”
