View from Youth Parliament: It’s been hard work but rewarding

MYPs on their time in Youth Parliament

Throughout my term I focused on my manifesto points – first aid and body image.

A body confidence and first aid workshop was held for the young people of Redbridge. I have also heard an extremely engaging talk by the ambassador of the CitizenAID App at one of the BYC Convention.

Recently, we met with our MPs and they found out more about our trip to the House of Commons. Overall, it has been an indubitably amazing year.

Being an MYP has not only equipped me with many useful skills; it has also provided me with memories and friends that I will treasure for a long time.

Having the incredible opportunity to represent where I live, both on the BBC and the House of Commons, has made my term unforgettable.

Despite the role requiring a lot of commitment and hard work, seeing your pledges developed in real life is genuinely such a rewarding experience.

As my year as deputy MYP comes to an end, I have been able to fondly reflect upon my year.

Going to different events such as the BYC Conventions has allowed me to make new friends and to listen to some truly inspirational speakers.

I have learnt things that I will certainly take forward with me as I venture into new vocations. I envy the new MYPs/Deputy, but also warn them of the incredible dedication that is required for you to succeed in their roles
