Khuram Amin, founder of Redbridge Amateur Boxing Club, tells us what he loves about the borough
What is your connection with Redbridge?
I moved to Redbridge at the age of 14 and went to Loxford High School. I founded Redbridge Amateur Boxing Club in Clayhall to help youngsters learn self defence.
What’s the best thing about working or living in Redbridge?
Redbridge has changed over the years.... it’s fast moving, diverse and has something for everyone.
What one thing would you change about the borough?
I would close all the betting shops, they are a stain on the borough.
Use three words to describe the borough.
Life, diversity and culture.
Who is the most inspiring person you know?
Nigel Benn [former world middleweight and super-middleweight boxing champion]. He came from Ilford and because of him a lot of young people are inspired to box.
What new law would you introduce if you were prime minister?
I would stop foreign investment on properties, it’s causing prices to rise far too high.
If you were the editor of this paper, what issues in the borough would you focus on?
I would have a feelgood Redbridge page, showcasing all the good news in the borough.
