WHAT impact is the continuing expansion of London City Airport, Silvertown, having on you? Do you think the environmental safeguards and controls set up around the increased flights are enough?

Despite a recent decline in flight movements at the airport because of the recession, last summer it was given permission to increase the number of movements from 91,000 to 120,000 per year. There have also been changes in flight paths and these may be causing disquiet.

The London Assembly's Environment Committee are investigating the likely environmental impacts of the decision and how it may affect people in the capital.

We will look at what impact future expansion may have on air quality, noise and climate change, plus what action is being taken to mitigate any negative effects.

We would like your help with the investigation. We are holding a meeting at City Hall on June 10, where we hope to hear people's views. We have also launched a short online survey which can be found at http://www.london.gov.uk/city-airport

Please take the time to have your say before the survey closes on June 18. - MURAD QURESHI, AM, Chair, London Assembly Environment Committee.
