Children dressed up and danced the afternoon away in celebration of Purim, which marks the deliverance of Jews from their enemies.

More than 100 children had an afternoon of fun at Clore Tikva Primary School, Fullwell Avenue, Barkingside, which included face painting and food. Purim, according to the biblical book of Esther, marks the deliverance of Jews from Haman who tried and failed to destroy them.

Eloise Farrer, part of the parents and teachers group who helped organise the event, said: “It was a good, fun, enjoyable day with lots to do. People are still talking about it.

The children raised about £800 which will be spent on new school playground equipment.
