Visitors enjoyed special showings of a number of movies including The Greatest Showman, Peter Rabbit, Paddington 2 and Ferdinand.

Hundreds turn up for Ilford BID’s outdoor summer cinema.

The cinema with beach games and surfboard simulator returend to Ilford town centre on Saturday, August 11 and Saturday, August 18 and hundreds of shoppers stopped to watch movies on the big screen.

Visitors enjoyed special showings of The Greatest Showman, Peter Rabbit, Paddington 2 and Ferdinand, along with candy floss, ice cold slushies, face-painters and the photo-booth also proved popular.

Several town centre businesses reported increased footfall thanks to the event, which also benefited from great weather conditions.

Aleeza Khan, of Goldex Investments said: “We handed out vouchers and samples which went down really well. It was great to see the local community come together.”

CEX Operations Manager, Alex Parkes said: “The Summer Beach Cinema was a great platform for our town’s businesses.

“We really got stuck into the festivities and brought along some exciting elements to the event including our own branded minivan to serve slushies to the public as well as goody bags, a gaming corner and more.

“It was fantastic to be able to encourage more people within the local community to visit our store on the high road and to find out more about what we do.”

BID Manager Ben Collins commented: “We want Ilford to be an exciting destination for visitors of all ages. The Summer Beach Cinema brought fun to the town centre and showcased Ilford’s fantastic offer.”
