A false alarm near Ilford station caused train delays and cancellations this morning.
Services on the Liverpool Street to Shenfield Line were severely disrupted through rush hour.
Some were cancelled and others missed out stations to make up delays of more than 20 minutes.
A spokesman for operator Abellio Greater Anglia tweeted: “There was an accidental emergency alarm activation near Ilford which has caused delays up to 20 mins through that area.”
Trains are now returning to normal running times.
