A man was arrested after threatening door staff at Faces nightclub with a metal pole.

Police were called after the nightclub in Gants Hill had closed on Saturday (April 21) night, and the director of the club told the Recorder that they were clearing away when three men pulled up to the club and made threats to the bouncers.

One of the men then pulled out what was a metal bar according to police, and John Clark the club director said that it was about 3ft long and looked like the “end of a tent pole.”

He said that one of the door staff managed to take the metal pole off the man, and that the man who had the pole was then arrested by police.

John said: “It is the intent that is scary, someone could have been badly hurt, just think if it had been a little old lady.

“Thankfully our door staff did their job, and all of the customers had already left.”

A Met Police spokeswoman said that a 20-year-old man was identified to them as possessing a metal pole and brandishing it at doorstaff at the nightclub.

He was then arrested and released pending further investigation and evidence gathering of the offence.
