Rough sleepers will find respite from the sweltering heat in bed and breakfasts for the next three nights.

Cllr Kam Rai, deputy leader and cabinet member for finance and resources, has triggered the council’s Severe Weather Shelter policy for those sleeping rough today, July 27.

Cllr Rai said: “We are booking B&B for three nights for those in our community sleeping rough, including those with no recourse to public funds.

“We will also be distributing bottled water through our outreach services.”
