Emergency services rushed to the scene of a gas explosion in Woodford Green this afternoon.
A ground floor apartment in the block of flats, in the High Road, was damaged and a car outside the building was hit by flying debris, the London Fire Brigade said.
“A man left the flat before the arrival of the Brigade and was treated at the scene by the London Ambulance Service,” said a statement.
“Sixteen people were evacuated from the block by the Brigade.
“Two fire engines from Woodford and Walthamstow fire stations attended the incident.
“The Brigade was called at 4.36pm and the incident was over at 6.26pm.”
