Streets in the town centre may look a little different this week thanks to a spruce up.
Redbridge Council workers have been deep cleaning parts of Cranbrook Road, including the areas around Ilford station and the Ilford Hill junction.
The operation, carried out at night, has been funded by the council.
Cllr Ross Hatfull, cabinet member for housing, payments and benefits, said: “In partnership with the BID [Business Improvement District] and Redbridge police, we’re working hard to make Ilford safer, cleaner and a pleasant shopping experience for visitors.
“This deep clean is part of our commitment to keep our pavements clean and makes a real difference.”
Cllr Khayer Chowdhury added: “This is the first in a number of intensive cleans that will be carried out around Ilford town centre.
“We’re giving the town centre streets a thorough cleaning to help make the area shine in the sunshine and beyond.”
The BID will be funding further deep cleans over the next few months.
