Entertainer Daniel Cainer played to a packed house at Woodford Liberal Synagogue.

Songwriter Cainer performed his humorous and affectionate songs, many of which explore his Jewish routes through the stories of or about his family.

Cainer recently performed in New York but made the time to play at the Marlborough Road synagogue in South Woodford to help raise funds for a planned refurbishment of the synagogue sanctuary.

The concert’s proceeds raised £860.

Bob Kamall, the synagogue’s chairman, said: “We were pleased to welcome Daniel to Woodford.

“Some of us saw him at the Liberal Judaism biennial conference in 2012 and it’s great more members of our community have now had the chance to not only see him perform but also get to spend some time with him during refreshments in the break.

“Everyone I spoke to after the show said how much they enjoyed the concert.”
