The nation is collectively nervous ahead of England’s semi-final World Cup game against Croatia, but Redbridge residents have an extra reason for concern following a power cut.
More than 1,000 households have been affected in Ilford alone and UK Power Networks has had 59 calls about the loss of electricity at 10.33am this morning (Wednesday, July 11).
Some residents living in IG1, IG2, IG3 and IG4 areas were also affected.
A spokeswoman for the company said it is trying to get the power back on before the three lions take to the pitch in the Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow, and engineers are working as safely and quickly as possible.
“Engineers are currently on site working to safely restore electricity supplies” she said.
“A fault on the underground electricity network caused a power cut at 10.33am this morning.
“We would like to reassure customers that supplies will be restored as quickly as possible.”
