A company running two nurseries in Wanstead has won a contract to open up in the former Olympic Village in Stratford.

The husband-and-wife pair behind the Little Bears nurseries in The Green and Seagry Road - Lee and Seonaidh O’Neill - will run a daycare nursery for 80 young children.

It will be in East Village, the neighbourhood of 2,818 homes being built on the site of the accommodation which housed athletes throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Games last year.

The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) announced the plans for the nursery today.

The couple’s first nursery in The Green which opened in 2005 received an outstanding rating from Ofsted.

Seonaidh O’Neill, who worked as a teacher for over 10 years and will manage the centre, said: “The facility has been designed to the highest standards for a nursery and we can’t wait to open.”

It will be in the same building as the all-ages Chobham Academy and will be open from 7.30am to 6.30pm.

Ralph Luck, the ODA’s director of property, said the nursery would provide the “highest quality care” for children.
