A primary school teacher was bombarded with wet sponges for more than two hours at a summer fete.

Jaskirn Singh was the sole volunteer for the ‘throw a sponge at a teacher’ stall at Clore Tikva Primary School’s fundraising event on Sunday.

Other attractions at the Barkingside school in Fullwell Avenue included face painting, inflatables, a fire engine and sports competitions.

The children were entertained with displays from the Clore Tikva Israeli dancing group, the Redbridge Lions gymnastics squad, Lea Valley Karate Academy and the Black Ice Cheerleaders.

Cloretta, the Clore Tikva fundraising bear, treated visitors to her very own version of Gangnam Style and head teacher Lenna Rosenberg joined her for a dance.

“We can safely say there is no danger of her winning Britain’s Got Talent,” said parent Melanie Berns.

FACT, the Clore Tikva fundraising group, would like to thank supporters of the fete, including the school’s sponsor, Taylor’s Legal, and Sainsbury’s in Barkingside for their donations.

The event raised more than £3,500, which will help to fund a new piece of playground equipment and go towards improving the school’s ICT facilities.
