Hundreds of primary school pupils from Redbridge took part in a special rugby festival, with more than 1,260 minutes of the sport being played in one day.
The tag ruby event was held at Eaton Manor Rugby Club, Nutter Lane, Wanstead, last week , organised by Christchurch Primary School, Wellesley Road, Ilford, who also managed to win one of the tournaments.
A number of trophies were up for grabs which were presented to winners by England rugby player, Emily Scott.
Organiser Tom Winkworth said: “I organised the festival to get more children playing sport and rugby.
“A few years ago I started coaching rugby at Christchurch Primary and there wasn’t much chance for the children to play competitive matches. It’s the fourth time the festival has happened, with each year getting bigger and bigger.
“I was really pleased with how the festival went. The children loved it and hopefully some of them will be inspired by the day.
“It was great during the day to stand and look around and see 320 children running round and having fun.”
