Aldborough E-Act free school will change hands to a new education provider, it has emerged.
E-Act was urged by the government to reduce the number of schools it administers by 10 last month.
They have confirmed Aldborough will be one of the schools dropped, saying in a statement: “E-ACT can confirm that Aldborough E-ACT Free School are one of the ten academies transferring to a new sponsor. The change comes following detailed discussions between E-ACT and the Department for Education on where best we can provide strong support and leadership. We have reviewed where we are best placed to make a significant difference and have agreed with the department to reduce in size from 34 to 24. The decision is not a reflection on the school’s staff or students.”
The Seven Kings school became the first free school in London when it opened in September 2011 and was rated “good” by Ofsted in March 2013.
No one at the school could be reached for comment.
