Pupils saw their studies come to life after an Olympic torchbearer dropped in to their school complete with torch and uniform.

Students at Highlands Primary School have been learning about the Olympics and Paralympics and, as part of this, torchbearer David Backhouse came to visit.

Danielle Vorley, a Year 2 teacher, said: “The children thoroughly enjoyed the visit and their curiosity and engagement was shown as they questioned and shared their knowledge with David about the Olympics and the Olympic torch.

Mr Backhouse visited the school in Highlands Gardens, Ilford, on Wednesday of last week.

She said: “It was a special morning for staff and the children to be a part of the history.”

During the Games 180 pupils got tickets to the Paralympics for the final two days.
