It was all Greek for students at one school in Ilford who travelled back in time to Ancient Greece for the day.

Year 3 students at Highlands Primary School, Highland Gardens created their own bustling market, made pots and even came dressed for the part.

Student Mandev Birak: “I would have liked to live then, because I would have liked making my own pots out of clay.”

Other activities included making coins and headdresses as well as setting up their own market where they could buy and sell their goods.

Jevon Greene, another Year 3 student, said: “It was good way to learn about Ancient Greeks because they liked to trade and to watch plays, and that’s what we’ve been doing today”.
