School children got up close and personal with birds of prey.
Pupils from Winston Way Primary school in Winston Way, Ilford, got to meet a South African eagle owl, a tawny frogmouth and a blue-winged kookaburra as part of the school’s initiative to get children learning about birds and natural history.
Each year group at the school is affiliated with a bird of prey and the session allowed the pupils to get hands on with their year-specific winged representative.
PE teacher Beccy Werrin, who organised the event, said: “We wanted to introduce class identities because not only do we share some of the same characteristics as these animals, but the birds of prey family is so diverse – just like our school community.”
