Children at a primary school took part in a workshop which ended in the creation of a huge mosaic.
Artist Paul Siggins and his team joined the pupils of South Park Primary School, Water Lane, Seven Kings, for a few days to help them design and put together the mural.
He said: “Seeing the children’s pride and delight in what they have created is something I and my team never tire of. Their beautiful mosaic will truly stand the test of time to be enjoyed by visitors and pupils for generations to come.”
The mosaic features the school’s bell tower with birds surrounding it and was put together by pupils from Years 3 and 6. They spent the best part of a week putting the masterpiece together under the watchful eye of Paul and his team.
It was hung at the entrance to create a striking first impression for visitors, parents, students and teachers. Debbie Keigwin, headteacher, said: “The hands-on experience of actually making a mosaic just as they did in ancient times has captured the children’s imaginations. The mosaic will form a stunning feature which the children can be extremely proud of.”
