These toddlers might not be big enough to wear the fire brigade uniform yet but they are experts on safety after a visit from Ilford firefighters.

A team from the station, in High Road, visited the Just Learning Nursery at King George Hospital, Barley Lane, on Thursday.

They let the little ones climb in the fire engine, try on hats and see their equipment before giving a talk on fire safety and what to do in an emergency.

Nursery administrator Karen Runnalls said: “The children were really excited – some of them were a bit overwhelmed.”
