PUPILS embraced the diverse world they live in, by getting dressed up for a heritage day.

Youngsters at Fairlop Primary School in Colvin Gardens, Hainault dressed up in flags and clothes from different countries, before parents took crash courses in Indian cooking.

Headteacher Gail Brannan said: “It has been our fourth ever heritage day, which we first decided to stage to celebrate our diverse culture.

“Parents learned how to make samosas with some Indian cooking experts, and youngsters picked a country and went into groups to dress up in their colours, for example red and white for Switzerland.”
The children walked around the school parading their country’s flag to the sound of Indian drumming, organised by the music department.

“We think we have got a representative for all the countries we featured in the school!” added Ms Brannan.
