Children at a Goodmayes primary school were Paralympians for a day on Monday when they competed in wheelchair sport.
The children at Mayespark Primary School, in Goodmayes Lane, played in teams representing Great Britain, the USA, France and Australia.
Coach Paul Arthur put year three children through their paces, teaching them how to manoeuvre sports wheelchairs and challenging them in relay races and with ball skills.
Assistant headteacher Abdul Muquith said the children “absolutely loved” the new-found sport - as well as the lucky teachers who had a go.
He added: “It’s a really useful way for them to experience what Paralympians might experience.
“They enjoyed it but it made them realise how difficult it is for people with those disabilities and how much harder they have to work.”
Mr Arthur is visiting weekly to work with pupils from all years of the school.
