Archant

Teachers at Wanstead High School might be forgiven for cracking open the champagne this lunch time as they celebrate their school’s best ever GCSE results.

Last year the school managed to achieve a headline figure of 70 per cent A*-C grades with English and maths, this year they have gone one step further and made their way into the mid 70s.

Of special note were the 10 students that opened their results today to discover they had achieved only A* and A grades, three of whom scored 10 A*s each.

Headteacher Bob Hamlyn said: “These results prove what we have known all along: this is a great school which produces fantastic outcomes for our youngsters. I’m so proud of the students and the staff who worked so hard to achieve these results.”
