Staff at Valentines High School have been joining pupils in celebrating another brilliant year of GCSE results.

The school, in Cranbrook Road, Gants Hill, was thrilled to reveal 70 per cent of pupils had achieved A*-C grades in English and maths, while the entire school year’s attainment eight score, which measures the average score of every pupil, was 54.45.

This meant that the school’s projected progress eight score, which calculates how pupil’s have fared compared to similarly ranked schools across the country, was a respectable 0.7.

Headteacher Richard Laws was greatly pleased with the work his staff and pupils had put in.

He said: “I’m absolutely ecstatic to find we’ve got a fantastic set of results.

“I’m immensely proud of not just my staff and our pupils, but also of the parents, who give us a lot of support.

“In terms of student progression, which measures how much each child has improved since primary school, this year is looking like our best ever.”
