The tears were flowing at Frances Bardsley School for Girls this morning as pupils collected their GCSE results.

But luckily they were of joy as students opened envelopes containing an impressive set of grades.

Indica Hales, 16, got 6 As and 4 A*s. She said: “I haven’t been able to sleep properly. I really wasn’t expecting this.”

Katie Walford, 16, will be celebrating tonight after earning herself seven As, despite thinking she had “failed miserably”.

A total of 18 girls achieved a whopping eight or more A* and A grades at the school in Brentwood Road, Romford.
