Talented pupils from an Ilford school are one step closer to glory after reaching the finals of a prestigious science competition.
The six students from The Ursuline Academy, Morland Road, will compete against pupils from across the country to try to win one of the biggest science prizes for young people.
Vanessa Madu, Davinia David-Rajah, Valentina Vettore, Sara Patel, Havana Colclough and Sharnelle Simpson are all off to represent east England in the National Science and Engineering Competition.
Vanessa said: “The best and most important discoveries and inventions are down to science and engineering, and this contest has helped us to realise that we want to be a part of that in the future.”
Their project investigates the depleting population of bees in urban areas and will be seen by 60,000 visitors with celebrity judges deciding the winner after a Dragons’ Den-style pitch.
