Pupils were encouraged to take up a new sport or after school activity when representatives from various clubs in the borough paid a visit to Clayhall.
Glade Primary School, Atherton Road, held a special activity fair last week which gave youngsters the chance to find out what clubs are available nearby.
Palmerstone Stage School, Newbury Park; South Woodford Cricket Club, Woodford Green; Virgin Active Sports Club, Ilford; Chigwell Tennis Club, Chigwell, and Lee Valley Karate Club, South Woodford, were among those who attended.
R.E. and history teacher Annette Boak said: “Everyone went home carrying a lot of leaflets and hopefully the fair will encourage pupils to get involved with a new sport.
“This is my third fair, and a number of students asked if more sports clubs could be included, which I decided to focus on especially as the event fell during sports week.”
