A Clayhall school held a special assembly to celebrate the United Nations’ International Peace Day.

Glade Primary School, in Atherton Road, sang One Day in their assembly, the song by American reggae singer Matisyahu dedicated to the special day last week.

The tune made the children bob their heads and open their hearts.

They also spelled out peace in the playground with 300 pupils, to create a fantastic message from the school.

Sofia Matin, Year 5, commented: “I like World Peace Day because people think about stopping wars and fighting and think about being kind to each other.”

“I think it’s nice that all religions, cultures and countries can come together for a day without war and set aside their differences,” said Vikram Singh, who is in Year 5.

And Sahib Sond, Year 3, added: “I liked that everyone was participating and singing One Day to remind us of how to be peaceful.”
