“We will continue to make our voices heard” is the pledge by the secretary of a drama group after funding cuts were reduced at last night’s cabinet meeting in Redbridge Town Hall, High Road, Ilford.
Pankaj Pathak said that finding savings of �14,000 would be more manageable for Redbridge Drama Centre Churchfields, South Woodford than initial proposals.
The centre was originally going to have its funding reduced by �75,000 each year until it reached zero.
Mr Pathak, secretary of the Friends of Redbridge Drama Centre, said: “In the short term we are very happy and we will continue to make our voices heard. It’s clear that the issue of the drama centre is central to the thinking of the council. I think we are all content with the revision of funding.”
He said that additional sources of income could be raised through holding private parties at the centre and having more classes.
Redbridge Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Cllr Alan Weinberg said the change was made after listening to the Redbridge’s Youth Council and opposition from young people.
