School pupils quizzed an author about his book, having spent the past few weeks flicking through its pages.
Author Anthony McGowan visited Oaks Park High School, Oaks Lane, Newbury, to speak about his book, The Knife that Killed Me.
He came specifically for Year 9 students who have studied his book. They used their time with him to ask him about why he wrote the book the way he did and why he created characters in such a specific way.
Mr McGowan also had a talk with Year 7 students about reading and writing stories, as well as encouraging them to take part in workshops.
Learning resource centre manager Linda Hayes, who organised the event, said: “It was a real opportunity for the students who have studied the book to talk to the author, as it was a completely different experience to anything we’ve ever done.
“The students found it brilliant and had loads of critical questions for him that the teachers couldn’t answer themselves,
“It made the book easier to understand.”
