Wanstead Park was a riot of colour on Thursday as hundreds of children performed with costumes, masks, instruments and even a Chinese dragon.
Pupils from Highlands Primary School paraded from the school, in Highlands Gardens, to the park for a fete.
The carnival followed a story created by the children that took in countries around the world to illustrate UNICEF’s children’s rights.
The tale was of two friends who travelled through a portal around the globe and had different adventures in each place.
Each class represented a different country in elaborate costumes created at school. They then performed a national dance, including street dance, samba from Brazil and Russian folk dancing.
Organiser Sandy Kaur said parents and children had a “brilliant” day.
She added: “It was a huge success and there was so much positive feeling.”
