Children at Winston Way Primary School in Ilford marked Remembrance Day by baking and selling cakes to raise money for the Poppy Appeal.
Following a project in which they learnt about war and conflict, from the First World War up to the present day, the pupils chose to host a bake sale on Tuesday in support of the charity.
Poetry, art work and research were just some of the ways in which the children learnt about Remembrance Day and the significance of it, before presentations were made in a special assembly.
Proud head teacher Debbie Webb said: “The children have really embraced the work they have done about Remembrance Day, It has helped them to appreciate the pain and suffering so many people have endured whilst defending their country.
“Many of the children know someone in their family who has been touched by war.”
The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal raises money each year in support of members of the Armed Forces.
Mrs Webb added: “It was fantastic to see so many children wearing poppies and understanding the significance of the poppy.
“I am very proud of the maturity the children showed whilst presenting their work.”
