Youngsters and adults alike performed poetry and music at an annual end of year party.

Members of the East London Three Faiths Forum gathered at Valentines Mansion, Emerson Road, Ilford, to enjoy a performance from carol singers of St Mary’s Church, High Road South Woodford.

Also taking centre stage were youngsters from the South Woodford Muslim Community Centre, Mulberry Way, South Woodford. They recited poems in honour of Prophet Mohammed’s birthday.

Also performing to the 60 guests enjoying a festive spread, were pupils from King Solomon High School, Forest Road, Barkingside. They sang Chanukah songs and told traditional Jewish jokes.

The Three Faiths Forum’s Rabbi David Hulbert said: “The highlight of the evening was probably the new imam of the Albert Road Mosque, Imam Mohammed Ehsan, chanting from memory a very beautiful and moving Arabic poem in praise of the Prophet.”

He added: “Hopefully you all will continue to support our meetings in 2016, and encourage new members to join.”
