A lorry driver has been rebailed until September “pending further enquiries” into the death of a 25-year-old woman, who was killed while she “walked along the zebra crossing” in Green Lane, Goodmayes.

The man was arrested in conjunction with the incident outside Cash Concepts on the A1083/Green Lane following the incident on March 5, and was originally released on bail until May.

Masuma Mawji, former student of nearby Mayfield School, Pedley Road, and Redbridge College, Barley Lane, Little Heath, died at the scene after the lorry hit her minutes after leaving the family business, Nuchem Pharmacy, also in Green Lane.

Fatma Ladak, 34, described her sister as having an “infectious smile and warm personality”.
