The former swimming pool in Ilford is checked every day for trespassers, Redbridge Council has said.

The statement was issued in response to a Recorder article about allegations of police taking sleeping bags from homeless people at the former Ilford Baths. The council was asked for their involvement in the incident.

The council said: “No one has been found by Vision staff in the building in the last 18 months.

“On occasion outside sheds in the car park have had their boarding removed. Sheds have either been demolished or boarded up again.”
