Cllr Dr Dev Sharma (Recorder, last week) comments specifically on the four defections from the Conservative group of councillors to become "independents" in May 2009. This is old hat - he's commented on it before, almost a year ago!

Can I remind Cllr Sharma once more that he might consider looking at a by-election in Clementswood Ward lost by Labour to the Liberal Democrats, another by-election in Valentines Ward lost to the Liberal Democrats, two Labour councillors (one each in Clementswood and Goodmayes) defecting to the Liberal Democrats after being deselected by Labour, and another from Goodmayes defecting to the Conservatives.

Well done, Dr Sharma, that's five you have lost when the Tories managed only four.
