A Hainault mum raised £1,500 for charity in memory of her son who died in a car crash aged 21.
Around 150 people attended the Wayne Chapman Live Forever Memorial Event at The Old Maypole pub, in Fencepiece Road, on Sunday, August 26.
Organiser Shelley Chapman, 46, of Huntsman Road, lost her son Wayne when he was involved in a car crash near the pub on May 4, 2007.
Commenting on the fundraiser, she said: “It was so good.
“I had a gentleman who had been drinking in the pub for 12 years and he reckons it’s the best night he has ever had there.”
The event included a darts competition, a raffle and music from band After Hours.
She added: “My son was a fan of Oasis.
“The band did a song for him and everybody put their drinks in the air. That was so fitting.”
All proceeds were donated to the childrens’ charity Make-A-Wish Foundation.
