These three rail workers have decided to take on the unenviable task of cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise money for St Francis Hospice.
Jeff Hiscoke, 59, lost his niece Justine Robinson, 40, from Hornchurch, to breast cancer in 2011.
Drivers Clive Gillman, 65, and Andy Bradford, 50, have also been touched by cancer.
Mr Hiscoke said: “When cancer finally took away my niece, Justine, I decided then I must do something and this month’s ride is the result.”
The trio will split any donations made from their trip in August between Saint Francis Hospice and Cancer Research and the British Heart Foundation - the latter is a final gesture made to the passing of Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) Union leader Bob Crow, who died of a heart attack this year.
