Sylvia Maharaj OBE has been commended for her work with the Metropolitan Police Service Central Communications Command.
The commendation was presented to Sylvia, of Wanstead, by Ch Supt Jim Read for dedication and tireless work in building and leading an effective Community Consultative Group (CCG),
Insp Julian Morriss said: “Sylvia combined the two essential elements required of any person holding the command to account: being both a critical friend and a staunch supporter.”
He said that Sylvia has been integral in building community confidence in the CCG as well as developing its diversity.
He added: “This commendation may not have the impact of the OBE that Sylvia was justifiably awarded last year but we hope that this commendation goes some way to expressing our immense thanks for her help and hard work over the last four years.”
