The green of Woodford Golf Club was taken over by Robin Hood and his merry men on Sunday complete with hobby horses and a hunting horn.
The bizarre sight was part of the inaugural drive-in of the club’s new captain, John Wade, who was joined by fellow golfers dressed as Maid Marian and Will Scarlett among other characters from the folk tale.
They performed a comedy sketch and Mr Wade said the enthusiasm displayed by the group showed the “comradeship and companionship you get as a golf club member”.
He said: “Peripatetic golfers have a platonic relationship with the courses they play.
“Proper club golfers have a much deeper relationship, almost akin to marriage”.
